Copyright date of 1878 with no later printings or dates mentioned; preface from author mentions this is 'a new edition'. No advertisement pages included. Minor thumb marking, foxing and heavy tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, visibly lighter to pastedowns and free endpapers. Cracking to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Intense cracking to hinges, exposing netting - boards are very loose. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild sunning, staining and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft rubbing and crushing to ends. Gilt slightly dulled and rubbed. Book has a slight forward lean. Pale liquid stain to rear.
