First English edition of the first comprehensive study of Lawrence written by an Arab. Mousa's work seeks to redress what he perceived as an imbalance in Lawrence's version of 1916 Arab Revolt. Drawing on little known Arab sources and with assistance from survivors and observers of the conflict, Mousa asks pertinent questions regarding Lawrence's role and his sincerity of belief in Arab independence yet does so in a thoughtful and considered way. The publisher notes that Lawrence's brother was asked to comment and his words are included at the end. Loosely inserted in this volume is a small slip of card that reads "With Best Wishes Suleiman Mousa". O'Brien, E257.
