Writing in ink in old hand top of front pastedown.Title-page is in black and red lettering. Several letters and numbers in old hand. See photos. Text block is lightly toned, some foxing which is never heavy. Fore-edge has been trimmed encroaching on first letters of a very few of the printed marginal notes. 142pp. This book was written as a reply to "Philanax Anglicus (Philosopher of England) written by Sir Henry Janson in 1663. See ESTC J482. The books reflect the ongoing struggle between the monarchy and the challenges of Presbyterianism which challenged the divine rights of the King. Also see ESTC D2571. The author of this book was Canon of Christ-Church, Canterbury, one of His Majesties Chaplains. We have found no sales of this book at auction the past 30 years and note one copy for sale presently in the UK. Size: Square Octavo.
