"This is a reissue of Harold Monro's Collected Poems as they were assembled in reverse chronological order by his widow and published by Cobden-Sanderson in 1933, the year after his death. The prefatory matter to that edition is, however, here replaced by a long new biographical and critical introduction by Ruth Tomalin—based on notes dictated to her by Mrs. Alida Monro during the last weeks of her life in 1969. Some knowledge of the darker circumstances of Monro's life is essential to a reassessment of his highly individual poetry, which, as T. S.
