Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Abberley Manor, Worcestershire: Notes On Its History, Augustine¿¿¿¿¿¿¿s Oak, Churches, And Families Connected With The Parish To The Present Day is a book written by John Lewis Moilliet in 1905. The book is a comprehensive study of the history of Abberley Manor, a manor located in Worcestershire, England. Moilliet begins by providing a detailed history of the manor, tracing its origins back to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. He then goes on to describe the various families that have owned the manor over the centuries, including the Walshes, the Russells, and the Lechmeres. The book also includes a chapter on Augustine's Oak, a famous tree located in the manor's park. According to legend, St. Augustine of Canterbury preached under the tree during his mission to convert the Anglo-Saxons to Christianity in the 6th century. Moilliet also provides a detailed account of the various churches that have been associated with the manor over the centuries, including St. Michael's Church and St. Mary's Church. He describes the architecture and history of each church, as well as the various religious figures who have been associated with them. Finally, the book includes a section on the families that have been connected with the parish up to the present day. Moilliet provides genealogies and histories of these families, including the Walshes, the Russells, and the Lechmeres. Overall, Abberley Manor, Worcestershire: Notes On Its History, Augustine¿¿¿¿¿¿¿s Oak, Churches, And Families Connected With The Parish To The Present Day is a fascinating and detailed study of the history of Abberley Manor and the surrounding area. It is a valuable resource for historians, genealogists, and anyone interested in the history of Worcestershire and England more broadly. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
