Lobzang Mingyur Dorje (blo bzang mi `gyur rdo rje, 1875 - 1948) was teacher at the Darjeeling High School until 1930 and apparently main compiler of Sarat Chandra Das` Tibet-English Dictionary. From 1931 to 1935 he worked at the Urusvati Himalayan Research Institute in Naggar / Kullu, for the Roerich family and then was appointed lecturer in Tibetan at Calcutta University, filling the position previously held by Kazi Dawa Samdup and Karma Sumdhon Paul. During his time there, he wrote the present publication and also made translations for Evans-Wentz, who published them in his 1954 "The Tibetan Book of the great Liberation".
