Trade paperback. Zustand: Very good. 8.25 by 10.75 inches. x, 355, [5] pages. Decorative front cover. Foreword by Theodore P. Savas. The previous owner's [Thomas Corbin] bookplate inside the cover. (Thomas Corbin was the great grandson of Private Elbert Corbin--who served in the First New York Light Artillery and participated in the Battle of Gettysburg) This is described as the Complete Index to Popular Civil War magazines. This is a massive compilation of over 30,000 cross-referenced listings gleaned from different publications. Included are the general periodicals that one would expect to see in such an index, such as Blue & Grey Magazine [Volume I-VII, August 1983 through December 1990], America's Civil War [Volume I, II, III (part) May 1988 to November 1990], and Civil War, the Magazine of the Civil War Society [Issue I through XXVI]. Also included are comprehensive entries from Gettysburg Magazine [Issue 1, 2, and 3] and Morningside Notes [through 1990]. Included are details from every article published in Military History Magazine [August 1984 through December 1990]dealing with a Civil War-related topic and an additional two more years of Civil War Times, Illustrated, comprising those issues published since the appearance of Merideth's index of that magazine (and its predecessor [Volume 28 and 29, March 1989 to December 1990]). This is a data-rich book that will become a bibliophile's companion. Included in the Guide are four chapters (1) a list of articles, by author; (2) a list of book reviews, by author; (3) a list of book reviews, by title; and (4) a numerical list of all articles by title, keyed to the subject index. A section titled "How To Use This Index" provides information on utilizing this book to its full potential. This should be viewed as a stand-alone publication, as Volume II was published in 1997 and included information from additional periodicals. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.…

In den WarenkorbTrade paperback. Zustand: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. The format is approximately 8.25 inches by 10.75 inches. vi, 220, [2] pages. Decorative front and back covers. SCARCE surviving copy. Covers 4,300 articles and 1,100 cross-referenced book reviews. The Index, as it now appears, is divided into four sections: a list of all 1,600 articles, sorted by the author of the article; a list of 1,150 book reviews, sorted by the author of the book (dual authors if the book was co-authored); a list of Book Reviews sorted by the title of the book; and finally, and most importantly, the subject list. The subject list is the "heart" of the Index. This alphabetical list includes every article, by major subject, cross-referenced where possible into multiple subjects. Most of the Book Reviews are also included in the subject list, listed by the book's major focus. The CWT/CWTI Index has been organized to allow the user to quickly find the issue date and beginning page number of all the articles, editorials, special departments, and Book Reviews for the time period of April 1959 to April 1989. In all cases, all entries are from Civil War Times Illustrated, unless the entry is listed as CWT, which means the entry cam from the original Civil War Times magazine. Born as Civil War Times Illustrated during the centennial commemoration of the war (1959), it provided fresh and insightful views on the conflict's battles, leaders, soldiers, sailors and other participants with engaging stories and compelling images. Civil War Times (formerly Civil War Times Illustrated) was a history magazine that covered the American Civil War. It was established in 1962 by Robert Fowler due to centennial anniversary interest in the Civil War in the United States. The magazine was originally named Civil War Times Illustrated Magazine and based in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It focused on both battlefield strategy and tactics and the social and economic conditions of the time, as well as the aftermath of the Civil War on the present. In 2023 the magazine ceased printing and became available online only. Upon the release of the Spring 2024 issue, World History Group's corporate owner shut down operations entirely. Civil War Times had a number of recurring departments, including: Turning Points: Pivotal transitions in the course of the war; Irregulars: Descriptions of the role of irregular branches on the war effort (engineers, recruiters, etc.); Civil War Today: Current news from the Civil War community; Gallery: Profile and picture of a reader's Civil War ancestor; In Their Footsteps: Battlefield tour guides and points of interest; and My War: First-hand soldier diaries, letters and memoirs.…
