Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2005 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict Studies, Security, University of Bremen (University of Miami, FL / University of Bremen, Germany), language: English, abstract: This paper is not about the economics of terrorism, though economic concepts can help design strategies and analyze the behavioral side to combat terrorism. Here we discuss about the increasing financial sources and methods of their modern fundraising. The al Qaeda terrorist network and its sources of funding seem very complicated and mysterious at large. And much of what we know may only be speculation. The CIA has estimated, for example, that it cost Al Qaeda' some $30 million a year to sustain itself during the period preceding 9/11, but the agency is still not sure what al Qaeda needs or expends today. What we know today is the modified money transfer system of Al-Qaeda, the way it moves funds around the globe. Before September 11, many financial institutions have helped transfer millions of dollars of al-Qaeda's money, without any problem. However, after greater inspection over the past transactions, other policies were created to prevent legal transmission of terrorist funds after 9/11. Today terrorists are increasingly using the informal hawala, a very historical transaction system. To transport the huge amount of cash money, diamonds and gold they use donkeys, mules and horses to transport to the very remote areas.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2007 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Region: Near East, Near Orient, , language: English, abstract: The alleged Al Qaeda attacks of November 9, 2001, have dramatically distorted the political environment between the Muslim and the Western world. Muslims live in a vast and diverse region that stretches from West Africa to the southern Philippines, as well as Muslim communities and Diaspora, scattered throughout the world. In the Muslim world, religion, politics, and culture are intertwined in complicated ways. This chapter is dedicated to dig-out and examine the dynamics that are driving changes in the political-religious landscape of the Muslim world, and to provide the global policymakers, the broader academic and security circle, with a general outline of events and recent trends, in the Islamic militia, that are most likely to affect U.S. interests and global security. In thus chapter, we can have an insight which ideological zeal Muslims in the Middle East and somewhere else seem to follow. They differ significantly not only in their religious views but also in their political and social orientation, in particular, women's rights and the content of education and their tendency for violence. Based on such political and religious analysis an exploration will be undertaken within the two main streams of Islam, first and foremost those between the Sunni and Shiia branches and between the Arab and the non-Arab Muslims straight ait down to sub-national communities, tribes, and clansHowever, after 9/11, the Bush Administration along with a bundle of strategies came out and advocated to democratize the Arab world. The main strategy and rationale behind the US government security interest in promoting freedom and democracy is to reduce anti-American terrorism. According to their calculus, the more democracy promoted in the Middle East the less terrorist attack on the US targets take place.Policy designers of the US government might like the idea and would like to think from the American point of view that democracy in Arabia works as in the United States. Unfortunately, there's no evidence for it and therefore, such a kind of decision making is basically wrong. In contrast, it is highly advisable to stop encouraging (and exporting) American democracy in Arabia and the Middle East.

Gebraucht - Sehr gut SG - leichte Beschädigungen oder Verschmutzungen, ungelesenes Mängelexemplar, gestempelt, Versand Büchersendung - Document from the year 2009 in the subject History - America, University of Bremen, language: English, abstract: The emergence and expansion of Rastafarianism has been a subject for some scholarly study in the Caribbean. The movement has flourished in due process as an outlet to a huge social and psychological confusions and decades-long conflicts inside the movement and society of the islands. To many sociologists, it is the inevitable consequence of Africans in Diaspora, people seeking to define their own identity and psychological needs. It is a movement created not by a revolution but out of confusions and in search of their roots with a Black God on the top.Rastafarianism presents a mixture of politics and theology that has emerged out of its formative years, as they call it 'in the Babylon'. In creating their own religion the Rastafarians depend not only on the historical, social or empirical experience of African descendants in the Diaspora but also for their own analysis to determine an active plan for liberation. Regardless of other social norms, they draw on the transcendental sources of human sensibility, theocracy and imagination. For as persons who see themselves to be persecuted, wronged and deprived, to be all but trapped in a situation of persistent material poverty including cultural degradation, the only way they see to get out of this situation 'Babylon' is through an apocalypse. From the early Christian history we know that small groups who have worshipped false gods or established their own Temples never succeeded and their religions have corroded including their followers. However, it seems different with the Rastafarians; because their movement is growing stronger -speeding in almost all the continents. This book is in part a revised version of both books 'Babylon Muss Fallen, Germany 1989 and 'The Rastafarians: In search of Their Identity, Puerto Rico 1985' and in part a contribution of.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict, Security, grade: excellent, University of Miami (FL. And Brookings Institution Washington D. C.; Security And Terrorism Studies), course: Homegrown Terrorists And Their Future Goals In Europe, language: English, abstract: On November 28th 2009, referendum, a constitutional amendment banning the construction of new minarets was approved by 57.5% of the participating voters in Switzerland (based on their direct-vote system). The outcome of such a referendum angered not the moderates but all radical Muslims throughout Europe, the Middle-East, Asia, Africa and Pakistan.Do those radicals do the same if Vatican venture to construct a Church in Riad or Istanbul The reason is simple, the people of Switzerland (57%)were afraid by the dramatic development of Islamic institutions and the Europe-wide agitation of radicalists' through their mosques and forums. As you can read in this book, the radical Muslims were angry because one of their strategic pillar that carried their future goals has failed, hidered or doomed. The initial strategy targeting Europe as the future battleground for radical Islamic terrorists, was born in Geneva,Switzerland. Their goal is 'to get back Europe, the continent once belonged to them'. For that purpose, they have laid down the groundwork that has been in process since the 1950s.Early in 1950, most members of Islamic Brotherhood (Ikwans, together with those retired Arabic soldiers who fought alongside Nazi-Germany, planted their Mosques in Geneva and Munich. Today, the Ikwans; allied with the Turkish (Milli Goerues) and Asian Islamic fundamentalists, succeeded (with oil Dollars from the Wahabists) in establishing hundreds of Mosques, Research Institutes and diverse business firms throughout Europe. Radical Muslims in Europe operate with a new under-cover strategy -attracting educated youngsters; immigrants, students and converted Europeans to execute their hidden agenda. The bombers of Madrid and London are not the radicals who travelled from the Middle East or Afghanistan to launch their terror actions; they originate from Europe or- mostly home-grown. In the future, as it is today, most of the Islamist terrorist threat to the United States will largely originate from Europe(due to visa waiver). As it is imagined, the graduates of Middle Eastern madrassas who are functional idiots and can do little more than read the Koran, will not travel to Europe or the US to launch their attacks. Miami, FL October, 2009.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Scientific Study from the year 2009 in the subject Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict, Security, University of Miami (International Security Studies), course: The Emergence and Impacts of Modern Terrorism, language: English, abstract: As the US and the Western world accused the governments of Libya, Iran, Syria, Iraq. etc as potential sponsors of terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was not mentioned, despite several of its charity organizations are supporting the radicals under the cover of humanitarian assistance. Saudi Arabian officials show down has tried to break the chains of terrorism and condemned Al-Qaeda's actions against the United States. The alleged Al Qaeda attacks of November 9, 2001, have dramatically distorted the political environment between the Muslim and the Western world. In the Muslim world, religion, politics, and culture are intertwined in complicated ways. The implications of jihadists' activities in the Middle East/Persian Gulf region are much worrying. The war in Iraq has inflamed the violent acts that have dramatically increased. Today, the time to access to the technologies for the production of chemical weapons is likely to become easy. The development of 'micro reactors,' or machines, only a bit larger than an average desktop computer, that are designed for pharmaceutical industries will allow chemical companies to produce chemicals in smaller quantities on short order. After the dramatic 9/11 tragedy, the Bush Administration came out along with a bundle of strategies and advocated to democratize the Arab world. The main strategy and rationale behind the US government security interest in promoting freedom and democracy is to reduce anti-American terrorism. According to their calculus, the more democracy promoted in the Middle East the less terrorist attack on the US targets take place. Miami Beach, Florida October 30, 2009.
