Thus we have some idea of their effects against cities and civil populations but have as yet never been used against troops in the field. Likely effects have been assessed from live weapon testing and by using simulators. But although we have a fair knowledge of the effect on equipment and the physical and physiological effect on men, we have no experience of the effect on morale.
