[nice clean copy, minimal shelfwear only; the jacket is edgeworn (most heavily along the spine), with tiny bits of paper loss at the spine ends and outer corners, and a very small chip at the top edge of the rear panel]. (B&W photographs) Musical comedy about shop workers who dislike each other in person but fall in love through their pen-pal correspondence, derived from the same play ("Parfumerie" by Miklós László) which was the source for Ernst Lubitsch's lovely 1940 film THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. The frontispiece caricature drawing of the original Broadway cast (including Barbara Cook, Daniel Massey, Barbara Baxley, and Jack Cassidy) is by Al Hirschfeld. The original production ran for 301 performances between April 1963 and January 1964, and has been revived several times since, most notably in 2016.
