The edges of the wraps are slightly darkened & there is a small stain to each wrap. Very good. Leading off this issue is the nearly 9-page long landmark essay by P. Adams Sitney describing "Structural film", a term he coined. Sitney identified the formal characteristics common in Structural films as fixed camera position, flicker effect, and loop printing ("the immediate repition of shots"). Among the other contents of this issue are interviews with George Landow and Bruce Baillie. There are articles on Stan Brakhage's "Mothlight with verse by Robert Creeley, on Rossellini's "The Rise to Power of Louis XIV" by Ken Kelman and on World War Two and American film by Lewis Jacobs. There is also an article by Tom Chomont on "Eros, O Basileus", a film by Markopoulos.

Second issue (of three, all dual-numbered) of one of the earliest American journals devoted to experimental and avant garde film and filmmakers, begun when editor Sitney was just 16 years old. The young editor would produce issues focusing on the work of Stan Brakhage and running interviews with the likes of Jean Cocteau, Willard Maas, and Owen Land. This issue dedicated to entirely to the films of Gregory Markopoulos. Includes a cover design by Richard Tuttle predating his first solo exhibition by almost a year. A rare zine. OCLC finds just over a dozen holdings across all issues. Side-stapled 4to mimeo wraps. About very good. Covers and pages toned. Some mild wear. Else clean and sound.
