First edition hard back binding in publisher's original light olive green cloth covers, russet title and author lettering to the spine and to the upper panel with flowers and butterflies design, black coated end papers. 8vo. 7½'' x 5¼''. Hard back binding in contemporary smooth finest quality brown leather covers, raised bands with twin gilt title lettering labels to the spine, gilt tooling to the front and rear board perimeter, gilt dentelles, marble paper end papers, all page edges gilt. 8vo. 9'' x 6''. Contains 319 printed pages of text with 20 single-sided hand-colored aquatint plates by Thomas Rowlandson, including coloured frontispiece and engraved title page facing each other. Very minor rubbing to the spine ends, light off-setting from the plates to the title page, beyond which the plates are clean and fresh, without any foxing to the paper, superb condition. Contains 276; 277; 279 printed pages of text with single-sided coloured aquatint plates including coloured frontispiece and title page to each. First Tour is Eighth edition [1819] with new plates, Second Tour is Second edition [1820], Third Tour is First Edition [1821]. General light rubbing to the spine edges, one hinge has been repaired, some off-setting from the plates, but without any foxing to the paper which is particularly clean. Member of the P.B.F.A.
