Title-page, 280pp. The author of this work is not stated but we believe it to be Henry Aldrich, edited and with notes in English by H.L. Mansel. Henry Aldrich (1647-1710), was an English theologian and philosopher, probably best known as the author of a little book on logic (Artis Logicæ Compendium). Although not innovative in the field of Logic itself (it closely follows Peter of Spain's Summulae Logicales), its insistent use by generations of Oxford students has shown it to be of great synthetic and didactic value: the Compendium continued to be read at Oxford (in Mansel's revised edition) until long past the middle of the 19th century. Henry Longueville Mansel (1820-1871) was an English philosopher and ecclesiastic. The book is bound in contemporary or slightly later full leather boards with simple gold designs and five thin raised bands on the spine. The original title label is missing but the impression is still visible and there is a leather label with a reference number on the second panel from the bottom of the spine. 'Trinity College Hall' has been stamped in gold on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with expected scuffing and some staining to the leather on the boards and spine and partial splitting to the leather down the front spine edge. The leather on the corner tips is worn with a little loss on the tips of the top corners. The contents are tight and clean apart from some ink staining on the top edge of the text block that has seeped a little way into the top margin of some of the pages. A name has been written on the front fixed endpaper.

Bound in the publisher's original brown cloth. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities and a few marks to cloth. Offsetting to the rear board. Small label to backstrip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean,with a few spots to the end pages. Some pages remain unopened. Very Good. book.
