Arnauld's supporters managed to persuade the Roman Catholic Church to place >Nature and Grace< on its 'Index of Prohibited Books' in 1690, . . .''(Wikipedia). - INNER FRONTPANEL WITH SEVERAL OWNERSHIP MARKS of several centuries: top-left with name-inscription of the publishing-period 'Levebve' (or 'Levebre', not 'Levebvre') and the smaller number '0-19-0', top-right with another nema-inscription 'A. Oils' (or 'Gils') dated 1841, also at inner frontpanel an ornamentally engraved ealier 18th-century exlibris-plate for 'S. M. Coninckx P. / Pax / er Amor veri.'; first half of the book with minimal pencil marks in the white margin, perhaps by the 19th century owner as the crosses are similar to the one in ink at inner frontpanel apparently by the same hand as the corresponding name-inscription. --- FRONTPANEL LOOSE, TITLEPAGE SLIGHTLY USED with the top-right corner partly loose; bands of spine and panels slightly-, top of spine and panels' corners somewhat-, bottom of spine and sharp-corners stronger rubbed; leather-surface of rearjoint slightly split, last sheets with slight glue-shadow of the inner rearpanel; OVERALL AN ACCEPTABLE COPY, worth a preserval bookbinder's treatment. . .
