In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 3rd Edition. This is a copy of the third edition 1923, printed and published by William Cate for Imperial Airways (the first appeared in 1920 for Handley Page). Original red lace bound buff yapp wraps with oval aircraft photo and Imperial Airways Ltd panel tipped on to the front within a highly ornate gilt frame with HP (Handley Page) monogram at the top. (36)pp including numerous b/w photos and adverts + 2 folding b/w maps. Covers very good with some creasing and marks, interiors near fine with maps neatly folded. Presumably Imperial and HP would have distributed this to clients and partners as a promotional tool or souvenir. The author, a pilot and keen balloonist, was air correspondent for the Telegraph. He describes the interior of the craft, the weather conditions and sensations of flying, and his impressions of famous landmarks and the unfolding views. The photos show the pilots, with several stunning aerial views of the route over London, Surrey, Kent, the Channel, Boulogne, Abbeville, Paris etc. One map (drawn by Geographia, London) shows the route from Croydon to Le Bourget. The other, part of an advert for Societe General de Paris, shows the location of its agencies across France, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Among the other advertisers are Handley Page, BP, Palmer Tyres, FA Swaine Court Photographer, et al.
