Cloth. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. A lovely first edition, first impression of this collection of stories, sketches and essays by British author and famous dandy Julian Maclaren-Ross. The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Julian Maclaren-Ross (1912-1964) was a British author, screenwriter, and literary critic, well-known for his bohemian lifestyle and his association with famous writers such as Dylan Thomas. This work comprises three parts: the first containing his burlesques of famous figures such as P. G. Wodehouse and Nancy Mitford; the second presenting a variety of stories and sketches; and the third concerning thoughts and impressions on a variety of topics, mainly literary. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is smart, though sunned, more so to the spine of the wraps. Fine. book.

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. The First UK printing published by Hamish Hamilton, London in 1961. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. The colouring to the spine remains bright. A small rubbed area to the rear panel and a little toning to the spine. Erstausgabe
First edition; 8vo; original publishers sage cloth binding, lettering in metallic blue to spine, unclipped dust-jacket, slight rubbing to extremities, a few short closed tears, light stain affecting fore-edge of lower panel. The authors last novel, written whilst living in abject poverty. In part autobiographical, the narrative details the amorous pursuit of the beautiful widow of a famous writer (in fact based on his pursuit of George Orwell's wife, Sonia). This is the author's scarcest book, especially with the elusive dust-jacket.
