Complete in three volumes. First edition. A detailed history of Kent with volume one containing reference to the Roman invasion, the settlement of the Saxons, Ethelbert to Egbert, Alfred the Great, and the Norman invasion. Volume two part one continues with the reign of Henry II, Edward I, and into the fourteenth century. Volume two part two concludes with Henry VIII, the rising of the Kentish Royalists, and iron works. Volume one is illustrated with three folding plates. Volume two part one is illustrated with two folding plates. Volume two part two is illustrated with one folding plate. Collated complete. Written by Robert Furley, an English scholar and historian. With a sketch of the physical features of the district by Henry B. Mackeson, a British geologist. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. Front hinge tender to volume one with the rear hinge starting but firm. Joints starting but firm to the other volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Good. book.
