Carter had illustrated D.H. Lawrence's Apocalypse, and was known as a mystic symbolist artist whose circle included Aleister Crowley and Austin Osmond Spare, the latter of which he had developed theories of artistic automatism. The leading feature is by author, feminist, and mystic Alice Mary Buckton on 'The Holy Grail: The Bringer of Vision'. Other articles include 'The Bible as Literature: Six Significant Books' by Richard G. Moulton, 'Hints on Hymn-Tunes' by R.E.
