Both exhibitions were organized by Sonia Landy Sheridan, and artist and academic. She created Generative Systems as a program at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1969 as a way to help artists adopt and use new technologies in their work. This exhibition used the social media platform Facebook as a workshop space, and included artists who were in the original exhibition, as well as others who participated in the Generative Systems program at school.
