In den Warenkorbpaperback. Zustand: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Hardcover, 252 pages, ENG.,300 x 300 mm, NEW, illustrated in color. ISBN 9789464778557. Cindy Wright creates large-scale oil paintings on canvas. At first glance the monumental still life paintings appear to be photo-realistic, using the photographic methods of cropping compositions and intense source lighting. But on closer inspection, the range of mark-making and painterly applications become astoundingly apparent. Wright?s work echoes the morbid tradition of ?vanitas? from the Dutch Old Masters of the 16th and 17th Century. Between beauty and decay, archetypal symbols like the human scull, rotten fruit, raw flesh, and dead animals traditionally represent the transience of life. Within a contemporary context, these symbols may refer to mass consumption or the exploitation of natural resources. However, this is not essentially the artist?s intent. Rather than being shocking or moralising, the images evoke a sense of peacefulness, silence, and fragility. Wright?s subjects are taken from her immediate surroundings and are transformed into iconic images for our times. This second edition of the catalog is published as a reprint collecting a selection of paintings from the last 20 years up to 2023, and exists alongside the artist?s exhibition part of the INBOX program at MHKA Museum in Antwerp. 1900 g.

Paperback. Zustand: VG-. Exceedingly rare exhibition catalogue in die-cut card-covers, 17.5 x 17.5 cm, with color images throughout including two-fold-outs. Unpaginated; nine-page Libby Lumpkin essay "Basquiat's War." Nick to front cover & some rubbing to edges; abrasion inside front cover and on first page where some water must have caused pages to stick. This doesn't affect any images & obscures only the text listing gallery's website. Edition number unknown. Catalogue designed by Paul Wagtouicz. From the library of the late Peter Schjeldahl, art critic for The New Yorker, this copy survived the 2019 fire at his Saint Mark's Place flat.
