Zustand: New. Idioma/Language: Español. A tribute to the pioneering investigations of the Spanish scholar Ángel-Luis Pujante and his commitment to the idea of "foreign" Shakespeare, a Shakespeare who, with or without his language, is capable of meaning many different things to different linguistic and cultural constituencies, th…e volume brings together the original work of some of the foremost specialists in the field from a variety of European and also Latin American backgrounds. The essays reflect both the manifold nature of Shakespeare's presence in different cultural formations and the range of approaches to the description of that phenomenon. After an introductory essay on Shakespeare and Europe that presents a picture of Shakespeare's status in,and relation to, other cultures on the continent including the UK, the volume is divided into four "fields' of interaction with the writer's work: criticism and commemoration, translation, adaptation and fictionalisation, and stage and performance. While, of course, none of these approaches is exclusive of the others, nor (collectively) do they exhaust the number of possible approaches to Shakespeare's famously elusive work, they at least provide a sample of the rich and varied ways European scholars have engaged with it in recent times. In doing so, they help lay the groundwork for what Pujante and others have long conceived of as a truly European Shakespearean critical heritage. *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente. Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This is an open access title available under the terms of a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International licence. It is free to read on the Oxford Academic platform and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations.Human Development and the Data Revolution explores the uses of large-sc…ale data in the contexts of development, in particular, what techniques, data sources, and possibilities exist for harnessing large datasets and new online data to address persistent concerns regarding human development, inequality, exclusion, and participation.Employing a global perspective to explore the latest advances at the intersection of big data analysis and human development, this volume brings together pioneering voices from academia, development practice, civil society organizations, government, and the private sector. With a two-pronged focus on theoretical and practical research on big data and computational approaches in human development, the volume covers such themes as data acquisition, data management, data mining and statistical analysis, network science, visual analytics, and geographic information systems and discusses them in terms of practical applications in development projects and initiatives. Ethical considerations surrounding these topics are visited throughout, highlighting the tradeoffs between benefitting and harming those who are the subjects of these new approaches. The authors explore the potentials of big data analysis for development but also the challenges and limitations for its usefulness in contexts of development, illuminating how the measurement and analytical choices made in using big data analysis are far from being neutral or value-free considerations.

From Mark Haworth-Booth: "The artists represented here work with the idea that manipulation -- technical, political, psychological and an endless menu of ramifications -- is the underlying reality of our time. The images here do not so much 'express' this; it's what they are." From the publisher: "'Metamorphoses' is among the first fine-art portfolios of digital photography ever produced. Featured are dynamic new works by some of the most significant established and emerging artists of our time. Marrying the revolutionary potentials of digital image-making with the Iris digital printing process, this portfolio represents the state of the art of a nascent form of photographic expression. At a pivotal moment in the history of photography, this work represents a metamorphosis: the transformation of the medium from its photochemical origins to a new, digital foundation. The artists included in the 'Metamorphoses' portfolio were chosen for the sophistication and eloquence of their visual statements. Working in collaboration with Nash Editions in the proofing and production of the edition, these artists have created digital prints of photographic images that were impossible or simply unimagined before the emergence of computer-imaging techniques. A new vision is emerging at the crossroads of art and technology, and now, along with it, we have a printing method compatible with that vision." Signed by Author.
