Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - A poetry collection that embraces the absurd and mysterious. LM Rivera's THE BOOK OF THE RED ABSURD is a poetic autobiography seen through the lens of literature, cinema, theory, history, mythology, and demonology. Presenting themselves in a sort of kinship with academic traditions, these poems move beyond scholarly preciousness to uncover something deeper, stranger, and more honest. This collection is a descent into an absurdist avant-garde performance, immersing the reader in the head of 'red' experiences-those with sensations of extremity, despair, amusement, and derision. Here we find a heart laid bare through poetry that aims for the deadliest parts and dances wildly along the way.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - When Duchamp's Bride Stripped Bare was shattered/damaged/transformed upon being relocated to the Brooklyn Museum, through this violent act, this accidental fracture, a new manifestation of the medium was born. So too in LM Rivera¿s The Drunkards is there violence against the body, not in and of itself, but the body as symbolic mover; and in the interplay between intoxication and violence, in being intoxicated on one¿s own violence, so too do violence and transformation become habituated in art. This intoxicated personhood transcends the divisions of the biological self, elevating consciousness to the selfless space of The Book, a constantly unfolding interiority in which the self¿s unspecialness is allowed to touch the sublime.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Attachments to proper names, traditions, and entrenched thought formations are a perennial problem and, as LM Rivera shows, an addiction. Against Heidegger is a collection of poetic meditations on that pervasive, and possibly eternal, compulsion. Rivera builds his idiosyncratically lyric argumentation against simplistic, naive, sentimental, and played-out narratives, opting instead for improvised, collaged, bursting-at-the-seams, experimental formations through which he thinks a concept through to its (im)possible end. On this philosophical-poetic journey, Rivera positions the grand figure of Martin Heidegger as a whipping boy who receives the punishment for the sins of blind tradition. Through this collection, Rivera attempts to sever many troubling yet lasting customs--be they overt, hidden, canonical, esoteric, forbidden, or blatantly authoritarian.…

Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | "The addiction of devotion to proper names is a perennial problem and it will be going nowhere. Against Heidegger is a collection of poetic meditations on that precise and, possibly, eternal addiction. LM Rivera continues his idiosyncratically lyric argumentation against grounded, so-called straight forward, naive, sentimental, easy narratives-opting instead for improvised, collaged, bursting, experimental formations of thinking through a concept to its (im)possible end. The grand philosopher, Martin Heidegger, acts as guide and whipping boy (and well deserved), as the author of this collection attempts to sever many troubled but lasting attachments to myriad traditions-be they overt, canonical, hidden, esoteric, forbidden, or downright disgraceful"--.…
