Hardcover, this is the salesman sample for the book to be published in 1898. The book contains numerous highlights of the original book was taken to potential customers, showing some sample pages, illustrations, bindings available etc. the front board shows the dark yellow version in the rear board is an example of the front cover in cloth and leather. Inside both boards are examples of the spine for each version available. Sample book still contains the pink tipped in notes describing the various parts. In the back of the book are numerous lined blank pages, the first page shows three orders entered. This is the only handwriting found in the book. The condition of the exterior is as follows: the front board and spine shows some toning and minor edge wear but the rear board shows spotting to the cloth and heavy wear to the leather edges. As far as the interior: the front end pages have some dampstains and a slight wrinkle but there is no staining on the remaining pages until you get to the rear end page which has numerous holes and foxing along the edges. There also holes present at the bottom and top of the rear pastedown. Salesman Samples (also called dummy books) are very uncommon as only a fraction were printed, compared to the actual publication run and they do not contain the entire book.

Part five of a contest sponsored by the fashion magazine, The Delineator, in which people would guess who the film actors were, based on costumes from prior films they starred in. This one features two men and a woman. Given that only a fraction of silent films have survived, these paper dolls serve to preserve part of early film history of the United States. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and wrinkling. In shrink wrap on a foam board.

A disbound sheet from the June, 1913 issue of the fashion magazine, the Delineator, featuring an innovative paper doll design by Carolyn Chester. These depict two women wearing Parisian fashions, but also notably also having the option to wear the motor-bonnet or motor-coat, documenting the influence that the growth of automobiles had on fashion. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and wrinkling.

Single sheet from the June, 1918 issue of the fashion magazine, the Delineator featuring a paper doll and illustrations by painter and illustrator Corwin Knapp Linson. Includes two young women and two young men with fashions reflecting styles in Italy and soldier's uniform. With a scene from Italy to also cut out. VERY GOOD condition. Put in shrinkwrap on foam board backing by previous owner. Minor uneven toning and light wrinkling/creasing.

With titles such as: The Inevitable Christ, The Idyll of Bethlehem, His Own City, With the Children, and Twenty-four Hours with Jesus, amongst others. Written by John Watson, a minister of the Free Church of Scotland remembered as an author of fiction, and best known by his pen name Ian Maclaren. Illustrated by Corwin Knapp Linson, an American painter and illustrator. In the original full cloth binding with gilt. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. A small closed tear to the half-title with library ink stamp to the front free endpaper and a number sticker to the front pastedown. Very Good Indeed. book.
