While it touches briefly on the primary family branch from Shropshire by Barbara M. Plowden, its main focus is mapping out the Chicheley Plowdens, the Welsh Plowdens, and the American Plowden descendants, including the history of Sir Edmund Plowden (1590-1659), who was granted a charter by King Charles I to establish a sprawling colonial palatinate named "New Albion" between modern-day Maryland and New England. The book is bound in a deluxe style with bevelled edged boards titled and decorated in gilt, top edge gilded. Internally with a frontispiece portrait of Edmund Plowden (1517-1584). There are fitted pockets both front and rear which both house linen backed folding family trees. There are a further two tables within the book, 191 pages. Covers have only very mild signs of wear, internally light foxing to outer page edges, else in good general condition.
