Obtuvo su licenciatura en 1962 en el CUNY Hunter College, realizó un master en Ciencias en 1967 en el CUNY City College y se doctoró en Psicología en 1972 en Rutgers, la Universidad de Nueva Jersey. En el 2004, recibió el cargo de profesora de Psicofarmacología Clínica de la Universidad Nova Southeastern.
