Apesar de ser uma ciência independente, tal pluralismo faz com que os psicólogos frequentemente recorram à argumentação filosófica. Com o intuito de avaliar o impacto da Filosofia na Psicologia produzida atualmente no Brasil, foi feita uma pesquisa na Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), utilizando-se o descritor "Psicologia" associado a "Filosofia". Entre vinte e dois filósofos de reconhecida relevância, o resultado mostrou aqueles que aparecem com maior frequência no campo da Psicologia. Assim, verificou-se que Foucault apareceu com destaque, ocupando o primeiro lugar com 89 entradas, seguido por Deleuze com 32, Adorno com 26, Heidegger com 13 e Teoria Crítica com 9 entradas. A partir dessa constatação, alguns docentes de Programas de Pós-Graduação especializados nesses autores escreveram textos que discutem diferentes aspectos do pensamento dos quatro filósofos, enfatizando sua interface com a Psicologia.
