In burgundy cloth-covered boards, blind rules around edges, gilt lettering front and spine. viii, 286pp. Tissue-guarded engraved frontispiece, vignette on title page and further occasional vignettes and page decorations. Small folio. . Cloth rubbed at edges, with rounding to corners and spine ends, some splattered marks, mild scratch on verso. Gift inscription, dated 1897, inked onto front paste down. A little spotting and toning on endpapers, hint of creaminess to pages, else internally neat, clean and tight. A collection of 50 traditional songs, with lyrics and vocal scores, gathered from oral tradition, private manuscripts and older collections of poetry and music of Caledonian minstrelsy. This, the second volume of such songs, was first published some 10 years after volume one. Perhaps signed by Malcolm Lawson on the title page, but the pencilling has faded and it is not possible to be sure.
