H.W. Lawrence faz notar que a amostra salienta que a maior parte desse trabalho é atribuído a meia dúzia de autores (Lavreince, Baudoin, Moreau le Jeune, Augustin de St. Aubin, Fragonard e Freudeberg), gravados por 9 artistas (Nicolas de Launay, Robert de Launay, Choffard, Ponce, Simonet, Martini, Helmam, Dequevauviller e Augustin de St. Aubin). 32x25 cm. xxv, 112 pp. and 164 folios hors-text, the first two printed on the verso and the remainder 162 just in the front. Title, date, and names of the authors in gold on front board framed by gilt fillet. Profusely illustrated with an engraving before the frontispiece (Les Adieux drawn by Moreau and engraved by Robert de Launay) not on the list of engravings after the frontispiece. This first engraving is a set of two folios, the first with the engraving and the second with the title and author both printed on the back. The remaining folios are in sets of two, the first with title and author printed and the second with the engraving, with the 81 prints in the already mentioned list. Edition limited to 151 copies of which 150 are for sale, this copy being no. 143. Copy with ex-libris inside the previous folder. Light acidity marks due to the quality of the paper. A collection of French prints, all from the second half of the 18th century and which are a sample of the best that was done in this area at that time, a period that covers the reign of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette as king and queen of France, and also the French Revolution. This compilation of works took about three years, time that the authors needed to go through the best collections they were aware of, a work which, according to them, would have been impossible without the helpful collaboration of the owners of these collections as well as the directors and assistants of various museums throughout Europe. Their names can be found in the preliminary note preceding the work. H.W. Lawrence points out that this sample highlights that m.
