Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. First edition, variant issue in green cloth (also seen in red cloth). 16mo. 78pp. Illustrated with a frontispiece and five engravings by "J.W. Ott." Green beveled-edge cloth, stamped in gilt on front cover. Plates and a few pages of text with moderate foxing, thin chips at the foredge margin of one leaf, spotting on boards with bumped corners, very good. The Alabama-born author, who published two volumes of poetry in 1867, was education in the North, wrote for the *New York Ledger*, and later married the editor of *The Philadelphia Press*. Confusion with another author of her era, lead to her mistaken inclusion in several respected African-American reference works. The Loew's Bridge referred to in the title of this long narrative poem was a pedestrian bridge in New York City at the corner of Broadway and Fulton Streets. Uncommon.
