Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Hardcover, 360 pages. Binding is square and tight. Dark red leather boards show significant shelf wear to edges, corners, and foot and crown of spine. Large areas of both boards are rubbed, and there are several small, dark smudges scattered over both surfaces. Gold initials on front board and gold lettering on spine are still shiny and crisp. All edges are gilt, and while the top edge is fairly tarnished, the other edges are very bright and shiny. White textured endpapers carry a blackish stain around the borders, possibly mildew. There is a dampstain on the title page, and someone has circled the publication date in black ink, but that is the only instance of writing/marking in the book. All pages are clean, save for occasional light foxing here and there and light, uniform toning. Text in French. Title translates to "Gaston's Journal: The Serious Hours of a Schoolboy.".
