The definitive and most comprehensive work on Southern African trees, now scarce and unlikely to be reprinted. A.A. Balkema adopted the old fashioned method of publishing and selling the three volumes separately rather than all at once as would be the practice today. Consequently a number of buyers were not able to obtain complete sets of the standard edition at the time and much annoyance was caused by this.
