Major theme of the book is on energy and environmental issues considered as two sides of the same coin. The resource energy is obtained from environmental resources and used in different economic sectors in carrying out various economic activities. Production of energy (both renewable and non renewable) could directly deplete the environmental resources and indirectly pollute the biosphere which includes lithosphere hydrosphere and atmosphere. Consumption of energy especially non renewable could create environmental damage and degradation and the net result is environmental pollution such as land pollution water pollution air pollution space pollution marine pollution etc. Thus production and consumption of energy deplete the valuable environmental and ecological resources and capitulate the damages to the environment.
