Two scarce copies translated from the original German.A lovely set of two volumes comprising lovely stories for children by German authors Friedrich A. Krummacher and Christoph von Schmid, Krummacher being the author to The Little Dove, published in 1838, and Schmid of The Little Lamb.Both authors were devoted Christians, Krummacher being a theologian and a devotional poet and writer, while Schmid wrote children's stories in which he taught Christian values. God and christianity are the main theme in these charming volumes.Illustrated with one frontispiece to The Little Dove volume. In the original publisher's paper wraps with gilt to edges. Externally very smart with minor shelfwear and edge wear. The Little Dove volumes has a slight vertical tear to the paper to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece to the Little Dove volume. Very Good. book.
