Lund and Europe", richly illustrated dissertation in Swedish. - - - (Abstract:) "My investigation concerns the growth of the academic milieu at a time when science and medicine expressed their needs in new ways. Thus the emphasis is on these activities, and the objects of my study are therefore the following types of buildings: observatories, anatomy buildings, chemistry, physics and physiology laboratories as well as botanical institutions and greenhouses. The innovations took physical shape in extensive building. Earlier centuries, the 17th cent. of the 'scientific revolution' and the 18th of utilitarianism, had left few traces in this respect. - In one chapter, however, I present a number of main university buildings, most of them situated in capitals, showing how universities often became pawns in a political and/or ideological game. But it was the buildings of science and medicine which by force of their numbers laid the real foundations for a university environment. Using a historical/comparative method I describe the often long journey between concept and reality, also presenting unrealized projects. In this way an interesting picture of the complexity of the building projects appears against the background of the wishes of those involved: functional demands, architectural claims and townscape ambitions - at different times during the 19th century and in different university cities, Lund [in Sweden] being the focus. The contacts between the professors have been traced; models have been studied. The support for these comparisons comes primarily from Germany, but also from other countries. England played a minor role, surprisingly. The first country to be industrialized it was the last to achieve national education. Together with short historical rewiews of the various disciplines their position at the time of the building activity is also indicated. A chemistry lab becomes the starting point. There was much activity within this discipline in the beginning of the 19th cent. For physics and physiology the situation was different. Modern institutes are not really found until the 1870's. For observatories and anatomy buildings the starting point of the account is the 17th century. These types of buildings have a longer history. Do university buildings have a special character? This is a recurring question in my discussion. There is no special type for each one of the individual structures, with some reservation for obseratories. The city palaces of the renaissance turned out to be a pretty good model for solving such a complicated structure as a laboratory or an anatomy building".

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Vor mehreren Jahren nahm Sveja Ahrens einen Verdächtigen fest, der später wegen Tötungsdelikten zu einer Haftstrafe mit anschließender Sicherungsverwahrung verurteilt wurde.Ein alter Fall sorgt dafür, dass Kommissarin Sveja Ahrens aus Hamburg nach Kiel reisen muss, um Ihren leicht zynischen und wortkargen Kollegen Fiete Dierksen zu unterstützen, nachdem einem Patient die Flucht aus der Psychiatrie gelungen ist. Während eines nächtlichen Notrufs mussten Mitarbeiter einer Rettungsleitstelle hilflos die Qualen eines Anrufers anhören. Kurz darauf wird am Strand in der Eckernförder Bucht eine Leiche gefunden, deren Alter vermutlich deutlich unter dem des Anrufers liegt. Während die Kommissare noch am Anfang der Ermittlungen stehen, wird bereits eine zweite Leiche in der Ostsee gefunden. Immer wieder führen die Ermittlungen, im Umfeld der Opfer zu Personen, welche scheinbar in den Bau eines geplanten Windparks involviert sind. Obwohl die Spurenlage eine Herausforderung darstellt, verschwinden mitten in der Nacht die Zwillinge des Ehepaars Peters, ohne ihre Smartphones mitzunehmen. Kurz darauf erhalten die Kommissare ein Foto, auf welchem die Kinder mit dem Patienten aus der Psychiatrie zu sehen sind.

Vi möter gårdag och nutid. De första byskolorna var släkt med bondens bostad. Lärosätet i staden under tidigt 1800-tal påminner om ett burget borgarhus. I det begynnande 1900-talets undervisningsanstalter känner vi igen det typiska skolhuset, mycket stort och inte sällan upplevt som barskt till karaktären. Decennierna som följer visar - liksom tidigare - prov på arkitekternas fingertoppskänsla för vad som rörde sig i tiden: form, färg, material, innehåll. Den estetiska aspektens betydelse, ja förädlande inverkan, betonades av dem som bar ansvaret. Folkskola eller läroverk, omsorgen var densamma, symbolspråket tydligt. Hallskolor, paviljongskolor - namnen antyder förändringar, ofta med inspiration från utlandet. Men nyheter och förändringar betyder inte att länken till det förflutna bryts. De sista bilderna visar detta: Mellersta Förstadsskolan och Möllevångsskolan i Malmö, uppförda med hundra års mellanrum. I byggnadernas yttre gestalt möter vi samma grundtanke. I interiören däremot råder det inget tvivel om nytänkande. Likväl känner vi igen oss. En skola är en skola är en skola".
