Sie bezeichneten sich selbst als Weltpriester. - Kunde vom innern Menschen ist weder Sache des Genie's, noch der Spekulation, sondern einzig und allein Ergebniß aus der Erfahrung; letztere aber bietet… sich dem Taubstummenlehrer bei weitem reichlicher dar, als so vielen Psychologen zusammen (Vorwort). Man machte vor einiger Zeit so viel Aufsehens mit Kaspar Hauser, und füllte mit den durch ihn gemachten Erfahrungen manche Lücke in der Seelenwissenschaft. So hat ein scharfsinniger Taubstummenlehrer eine lebendige Quelle der Psychologie vor sich, kann - wie so leicht kein Zweiter - die geistige Natur des Menschen von Stufe zu Stufe belauschen (S. 4).
