As the Great Depression hit Gibbons found himself over-extended, and was forced into bankruptcy. The present item is scarce. The only copy on JISC is at the Paul Mellon Centre Library. 68pp, 8vo. In grey printed wraps, and with purchase slip tipped in. In fair condition, lightly aged and worn. At head of title-page: 'By Direction of Lieut.-Col. SIR WALTER GIBBONS, K.B.E., D.L. Following the Sale of the Freehold, and the proposed conversion of the Property into high-class Residential Flats.' 'Conditions of Sale' on reverse of title. 974 lots. 'Order of Sale' as follows: First Day, The Reception Rooms; Second Day, Pictures, Drawings and Engravings / Books; Third Day, The Boudoir, The Study, The Secretary's Office, The Bedroom Furnishings; Fourth Day, Silver and Plated Ware / China and Glass / Wine, Linen and the Domestic Offices'. Around half of the book lots on the second day, 300-508, are annotated in pencil with a bookseller's bids. Loosely inserted is a slip of paper with a pencil note in the same hand: 'clear Saturday / one lot only / 371 12/-/-'.

Woodhouse & Davidson ( Solicitors ) ; 1931, in-folio, 33,5 x 22 cm, 94 pp + 11 full page photo-illustrations + 1 very large folded coloured lithographic map ( inserted at the end in a special envelope. Original printed wrapper with tipped on photo of Quenby Hall on the front wrapper. The item shows some wear, some sparse stains in the inside. Overall still in good condition. Loosely inserted are items pertaining to the estate and the history of the families : [1] An original engraving of Quenby Hall ( from the Gentleman's Magazine of Aug. 1814. [2] 2 original leaves torn out of a book '' Seats in Leicestershire - pp307 - 309. [3] A portrait of Joseph Foulkes Wricks - steel engraving, margins foxed. [4] A typescript letter, 6th jan. 1977, from the Squire de Lisle, Quenby Hall Hungarton to D. Ashby at Leicester, added to the letter are 9 folio pages with genealogical information, some corrected by hand, of the Ashby family. These leaves are photostat copies.[5] A colour publicity page, removed from probably ''The Times Magazine'' with publicity of wallpaper designs from Edith de Lisle's '' Quenby prints''. Fully illustrated auction sale catalogue of the Quenby estate at Hungarton. Good copy of an auction sale catalogue of one of the finest Jacobean houses in England. Well illustrated.
