A compendium of writings and art pieces banned or denied publication in the Soviet Union, originally issued in 1979 under the title of "Metropol" with the demand that they be published free of state censorship. The demand was predictably refused, and copies of Metropol were circulated secretly within the Soviet Union before eventually making their way into the West.
