Erstausgabe
Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Octavo, wrappers, 108 (iv)pp. A fantastic satire in three acts, about two forces competing for a soul who alternatively embodies both. The play was banned after its premiere because of its inflammatory theme of corruption in politicians and contemporary society. Dvorák (1881-1933) was renowned as a leading playwright from the 1910s, also a translator and editor of the journal Nový scena. Fine illustrative cover design by famed architect and friend Jirí Kroha. Found in 4 North American libraries.
