Vellum. Zustand: Good. First Edition. First edition, #124 of 300 copies. Vellum covers, with extensive ornamentation in blind. Quarto. One of two pairs of cloth ties present. 126 pp. Black and white illustrated plates throughout, all present as called for. A primarily visual look at pen and ink drawings and artists from Europe and America, including Britain, Germany, France, Belgium and Finland. With short essays on the art and artists of each country, discussing style, etc. Many Art Nouveau style drawings. While most plates are reprinted from other sources, several were done for this work, including those by Jessie King, William Drake, Otto Fischer and Otto Greiner, among others. With work by Maxfield Parrish, Walter Crane, Howard Pyle, Charles Dana Gibson and others. GOOD condition. Moderate foxing and spotting/staining to the covers. Some soiling and general toning. Slight warping to the boards. Hinges split along the upper portions of the exterior binding, with the front cover cracked along the entire length of the interior gutter, although still intact. Minor chipping to the extremities of the endpapers. Paper toned in the interior.
