Born in the Peeblesshire valley of Kilbucho, he was a shepherd by trad…e and an acute observer of country life and language. He also poetry, mostly in his native Peebleshire speech. In this book, in prose and verse, he covers the continuation throughout several Peeblesshire parishes of a traditional pathway over which Burns, Hogg and other Scots have left their footprints. The book is bound in the original green boards with no titling on the spine or boards. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing to the endpapers and a little faint foxing to the title-page and last page. There is an initial written on the front free endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and the spine ends are bumped and chipped. A small piece is missing from the top rear edge near the spine corner.
