Map, coloured and black and white photographic illustrations, 260pp, text in simplified Chinese characters, 20.2 x 14cm, paperback. Fore-edge bumped causing some creasing at outer margins of leaves, a little foxed first and last leaves otherwise sound and clean. This historical text delves into the history of the ancient Yelang Kingdom, that existed in what is now southwestern China, primarily in Guizhou Province mainly during the Han Dynasty. Often remembered for arrogance and remaining isolated, it has even inspired a Chinese idiom "????" (Yelang thinks highly of itself), which refers to someone who is ignorant yet boastful. The text examines the origins, development and demise of the Yelang Kingdom and its interactions with other regions during the Qin and Han Dynasties. It discusses archaeological findings, tribes and historical records about the Yelang way of life, governance, and eventual integration into the broader Chinese empire.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - In the spectrum of mathematics, graph theory which studies a mathe matical structure on a set of elements with a binary relation, as a recognized discipline, is a relative newcomer. In recent three decades the exciting and rapidly growing area of the subject abounds with new mathematical devel opments and significant applications to real-world problems. More and more colleges and universities have made it a required course for the senior or the beginning postgraduate students who are majoring in mathematics, computer science, electronics, scientific management and others. This book provides an introduction to graph theory for these students. The richness of theory and the wideness of applications make it impossi ble to include all topics in graph theory in a textbook for one semester. All materials presented in this book, however, I believe, are the most classical, fundamental, interesting and important. The method we deal with the mate rials is to particularly lay stress on digraphs, regarding undirected graphs as their special cases. My own experience from teaching out of the subject more than ten years at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) shows that this treatment makes hardly the course di:fficult, but much more accords with the essence and the development trend of the subject.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The advent of very large scale integrated circuit technology has enabled the construction of very complex and large interconnection networks. By most accounts, the next generation of supercomputers will achieve its gains by increasing the number of processing elements, rather than by using faster processors. The most difficult technical problem in constructing a supercom puter will be the design of the interconnection network through which the processors communicate. Selecting an appropriate and adequate topological structure of interconnection networks will become a critical issue, on which many research efforts have been made over the past decade. The book is aimed to attract the readers' attention to such an important research area. Graph theory is a fundamental and powerful mathematical tool for de signing and analyzing interconnection networks, since the topological struc ture of an interconnection network is a graph. This fact has been univer sally accepted by computer scientists and engineers. This book provides the most basic problems, concepts and well-established results on the topological structure and analysis of interconnection networks in the language of graph theory. The material originates from a vast amount of literature, but the theory presented is developed carefully and skillfully. The treatment is gen erally self-contained, and most stated results are proved. No exercises are explicitly exhibited, but there are some stated results whose proofs are left to the reader to consolidate his understanding of the material.
