Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book aims to provide reader an overview of clinical applications of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in hepatic neoplasms diagnosis. Ultrasound images and pathological results of different hepatic neoplasms are introduced in the chapters, including benign liver tumors, malignant liver tumors, hepatic carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, rare liver benign and malignant neoplasms, regenerative nodules, inflammatory pseudotumor, parasite liver lesions, and hepatitis peliosis, etc. The combination of ultrasound findings with final histopathological results then discover the potential mechanical of contrast enhancement changes. With the development of ultrasound technology and widely application of ultrasound contrast agents (USCA) in recent decades, contrast-specific imaging modalities have been developed in combination with USCA and a low mechanical index (MI), allowing continuous real-time grey scale imaging. The updated contrast-specific software for liver diseases and hepatic tumors diagnosis has also been described described in detail. With high-resolution contrast ultrasound images during arterial phase, portal venous phase and late phase, author wants to show the whole dynamic wash-in and wash-out process of the different focal liver lesions. This book is an invaluable resource for radiologists, hepatologists and oncologists in their everyday clinical practice.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - It is remarkable how much we take for granted the tremendous energy and vitality that the sun provides earth's inhabitants. As we enter the new millennium, it is worthwhile to review how our ancestors perceived the biologic effects of sunlight, and how science and medicine have advanced our knowledge about the biologic effects of light. At the turn of the century, a multitude of investigators explored the use of sunlight and artificial radiation for treating a multitude of diseases. These explorations gave rise to photodynamic therapy, phototherapy, and chemophototherapy. However, enthusiasm for using sunlight and artificial radiation to treat disease was dampened with the birth of pharmacology. It was the goal of the Fifth International Arnold Rikli Symposium on the Biologic Effects of Light, held in Basel, Switzerland, on November 1-3, 1998, to review the history of phototherapy and have some of the world's leading experts on the biologic effects of light provide new perspectives on the positive and negative effects of light. The general topics included a broad range of biologic effects of sunlight, artificial ultraviolet radiation and electromagnetic radiation. Special sessions on radiation and vitamin D and bone health, photoimmunology, biopositive effects of UV radiation, effects of electromagnetic currents and fields, and ocular and non-ocular regulation of circadian rhythms and melatonin, should be of particular interest to readers of Biologic Effects of Light.…

In den WarenkorbZustand: Good. Folio. 23.7 x 37.7cm. (14¾ x 9½"). Contemporary vellum, rebacked but retaining earlier spine strip and label. .Volumes II & III (of 3), bound together. [22]; 196; 116; [8], 228, [11] pp. Text in blackletter German. With 80 copper-engraved plates including added engraved title (33 of them folding), and several in-text engravings and woodcuts.Museum Museorum (1714) is a seminal work by German physician Michael Bernhard Valentini, acting as a comprehensive catalog of 17th-century "cabinets of curiosities" or Wunderkammern. It documents early collections of natural and man-made objects, serving as a foundational text for modern museology and displaying items like fossils, exotic animal skins, and scientific instruments. The second and third volumes of Valentini's monumental compendium of art, commerce, science, and nature. Valentini's project is important not only for natural history, but as an early study of collections, including his own, the Repositorium Valentinianum. The "Museum of Museums" is thus an early text in the study of curation and museums. The fantastic plates include depictions of the world's marvels including: shells, fossils, religious symbols occurring in nature, plants (including a banana), native fishermen, snakes, hippos, lions, boars, bears, a unicorn, birds, insects, a library, a zoo, mechanical devices, hydraulics, vacuum bottles, firearms, an airship, fountains, slide projectors, divining rods, and more. Valentini's work stands at the threshold where natural science emerges from the bestiary. As such, Museum Museorum includes a critical account of the legends of the unicorn and includes illustrations of purported specimens of fabulous creatures and monsters. The title given above is that in the first volume - the titles on the second and third volumes present here vary: II - Musei Museorum, Oder Der Vollständigen Schau Bühne frembder Naturalien Zweyter Theil.; III - Neu-auffgerichtetes Rüst- und Zeughauß Der Natur. Valentini's work would have major reverberations among collectors, with many compiling their own rarities books or catalogues after his influence.
