So Somesvara could devote his time to the composition of Manasollasa which is an encyclopaedia. Dr. M.N. Joshi has dealt with all the topics which are systematically treated by the author of Manasollasa which is literally a desire yielding jewel for the information devoutly wished for i.e. Abhilasitarthacintamani. Our ancestors were widely and rightly known for their phenomenal pursuit of knowledge. This book Manasollasa and Ayurveda is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the significance of Manasollasa and in short date life and works of Somesvara III. The second chapter gives a picture of the Manasollasa as an Ancient Treatise on Ayurveda. The third chapter describes basic concepts of Ayurveda. In this chapter the author mentions a few notable names associated with different sciences in India during different periods. The authors have furnished a detailed information about the environment and Ayurveda in the fourth chapter. It is also stated that the imbalance in any part of nature affects the life as a whole and therefore tries to maintain harmony among the members of the universe was felt a necessity. The fifth chapter provides the details of physical and mental health prevention of disease which is necessary for promotion of health. There is at the end a glossary of select Sanskrit words and select bibliography for the usefulness of the book. Every topic is dealt with exhaustively.
