Bascom Slemp 1926" (Not Signed By Coolidge). A Clean, Undamaged Copy, With Cover Gilt Bright, The Spine Lettering Faded But The Cloth Unfaded. Slemp Was The Son Of Another Long-Serving Cojngressman But The Two Are, To Our Knowledge, Unrelated To Any Other Political Figures In Virginia Where Genealogy Kis Almost Always Involved Or Soon Becomes Involved. Knowland Was Publisher Of The Oakland Tribune, Served In The State Assembly And Senate, And Then Served In Congress From 1904-1915, But Was Unsuccessful In Seeking U S Senate In 1914, Losing To James D Phelan. In 1932 He Persuaded President Hoover And The Reconstruction Finance Corp To Advance $32 Million For Construction Of The Sf-Oakland Bay Bridge, And Was Active In The Republican Party And Many State And National Commissions. He Was Political Mentor Of Earl Warren, Who Became Chief Justice Of The Supreme Court Of The Us. He Was Proud Of His Son, Us Senator William F Knowland. Inscribed by Author(s).…
