Jorrocks was Surtees' timeless creation, his vulgarity and cheer still make the reader chuckle today. The red cloth cover is much bashed about. There is wear to all edges, corners and seams. The covers are marked, stained, scuffed. The covers and the spine are stoic. Inside, the contents are foxed throughout. Here and there the binding is cracked, but the pages are secure and sure. Colour is faded and patchy on the covers, and there are scuffs and stains, and there are ink marks on the back cover. The spine is badly faded.There is an inscription on the flyleaf dated 1932, and the cover is starting to detach from the pageblock. While the flyleaves are somewhat discoloured, the roughcut pages of the book are generally very clean and unmarked. .
