Softcover. Zustand: Fair. First Edition; First Printing. Softcover copy in publisher's wraps - brown paper wraps with title and printing info on front cover. Covers are fragile and chipped and almost separated from text block. There's some writing in pencil on the top margin of the front cover. The paper spine is mostly gone and the text block is separating. Some of the pages are dog-eared, but the contents are free of any writing or marginalia. Despite its flaws, this is a scarce first printing with its original wraps. ; The first two printings were published under Worth's pseudonym "Ignatius Jones". The notice in this edition is signed "I. J." and in the second edition the author is identified as Ignatius Jones. According to New York State's Museum website, Gorham was born in Quaker Hill, Dutchess County in 1782 or '83 and his family moved to Hudson when he was 15 yrs old. As an adult he worked in Albany as a bank cashier until 1817 when he moved to Cincinnati. By 1820, Worth was living in Manhattan. Hisa book is a compilation of his recollections of people and history of Albany during the years 1800 to 1808. Scarce first printing. ; no illustrations; Tall 8vo 9 1/4" x 5 7/8"; 57 p. pages.
