Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. Kelly Myatt St. Clair (Illustrations) and Dave Ven (illustrator). ix, [3], 716 pages. Inscribed by the author on the front free end paper. The inscription reads: Margaret, Thanks so much for dropping by and talking w/me. After living in Virginia a couple months, I hope you love our state as much as I do. Enjoy the regional flavor. Best Wishes, Tesa Jones. Tesa Jones is an Elon University alumna and retired teacher. Cobwebs of Time is the second in the series. This is a story of family, friendship and love. Ms. Jones' novels merge social issues, cultural changes and American history with well-defined characters and poignant love stories that grab you by the heart, insert you into the pages of the book and remind you what is truly important in life. In a sweeping novel that captures the soul of a generation, Tesa Jones intimately illuminates the lives of four unforgettable characters who come of age and make their mark on the world against the vivid backdrop of a changing American landscape. This is stated on the rear dust jacket flap as the author's first novel. It is the second title in the Malone Family Saga. Laura enters college in 1969, a sheltered young woman in love with her high school boyfriend, determined to change the world by becoming a teacher. Her first day, she meets Brad Malone and is magnetically drawn to him despite his reputation for breaking hearts. Cobwebs of Time is a sweeping novel of their lifelong love affair, set against the social upheaval of the seventies and the economic boom and bust of the eighties. Tesa Jones has written a mesmerizing page-turner, skillfully evoking the wild feelings of first love and the pain of lost love, the precious bond between parents and children and the difficult path to maturity. Cobwebs of Time interweaves the stories of four main characters: Laura, a pretty, naïve girl who dreams of becoming a teacher; Kurt, an idealist, who is trying to survive in a cynical world; Brad, an aspiring photographer, who hides his painful childhood with a façade of brazen charm; and beautiful Jennifer, who is in school only to meet the rigorous expectations of her exacting father. These four spirited, very different individuals make their way through school and then follow their dreams to the hectic business arenas of Washington, D.C. and New York City. Jones navigates the waters of marriage and children, political unrest and the sexual revolution, drug use and sexual harassment with a sure hand, and draws the reader into her compelling, and sometimes heartbreaking, world. We stand vigil with the characters in illness, watch love grow and fade, and follow the characters through tragedy to joy. Jones' stylish, gutsy prose paints vivid portraits of characters we come to care very deeply for, as they struggle to find their place in the world. Cobwebs of Time is an epic tale that captures the voice of a generation, illuminating universal hopes, fears, and dreams in the stories of four unique young people. Jones has crafted a masterful portrait of characters who do not always make the right choices, but who strive to find happiness and love. Cobwebs of Time is a romantic thrill ride that sweeps the reader along in its wake, a document of an era, and, at its heart, a gripping love story. First Edition [stated], presumed first printing.

Vintage publicity photograph of Ethlyne Clair upon a horse, circa 1928, with a Universal Pictures stamp crediting photographer Ray Jones and a mimeo snipe printed on the verso. Ethlyne Clair was a popular actress in silent westerns, comedies, and serials from 1924 to 1932. Her career was boosted by two serials "The Vanishing Rider" (1928) and "Queen of the Northwoods" (1929), and in 1929 was named as one of the 13 WAMPAS Baby Stars. Unfortunately Clair was one of many silent film actors whose career was thwarted upon the advent of talkies and retired from film acting in 1932. In 1928 Clair starred in four westerns for Universal Pictures, "The Vanishing Rider," "Wild Blood," "Riding for Fame," and "Guardians of the Wild." 10.25 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with light creasing, a tiny chip from the top right corner, and faint emulsion regularities to the right side of the photograph.

Fotografie
Vintage publicity photograph of Ethlyne Clair by photographer Ray Jones, circa 1920s, with two studio stamps, both crediting photographer Jones, and a mimeo snipe on the verso. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. A popular and growing silent film star, Ethlyne Clair, was one of many actors whose voice didn't resonate well in talkies, cutting her career short. She starred in nearly 50 films in only eight years, from 1924 to 1932, and in 1929 was named a WAMPAS Baby Star. Some of her more notable performances include the serials "The Vanishing Rider" (1928) and "Queen of the Northwoods" (1929). 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
