With the bookplate and private library notation of Bertram F. Barton to the front pastedown. Illustrated with a frontispiece of Hampton Court Palace, four full page maps of the river and over one hundred vignette woodcut illustrations. Collated complete. John Fisher Murray was an Irish poet and humourist, perhaps best known for his satirical works. He did however write a number of works regarding London, notably 'The World of London'. This volume describes the area surrounding the river Thames, and includes descriptions of Kensington, Richmond and Hampton Court, to name a few. In the original red cloth binding with gilt motif to front board. Externally smart with slight rubbing to the boards and extremities. Slight splitting to the head and tail of the spine. The odd light mark to the boards. Bookplate and private library label to front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot, slightly heavier to the plates. Minor age toning. Very Good. book.
