Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,0, Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg im Breisgau, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Für die Entwicklung des tschechischen Nationalbewusstseins war Jan Hus, ein Prager Prediger am Ende des vierzehnten Jahrhunderts und Beginn des fünfzehnten Jahrhunderts, von immenser Bedeutung. Nach seinem Tod auf dem Konstanzer Konzil 1415 wurde sein Name immer wieder mit einer in Böhmen entstandenen Bewegung in Verbindung gebracht, dem Hussitismus, einer Bewegung, die aufgrund seiner revolutionären Standpunkte auch oft als hussitische Revolution bezeichnet wird. Diese Revolution ist ebenfalls essenziell für Tschechien und damit einhergehend das Nationalbewusstsein der Tschechen. Da die Revolution erst Jahre nach der Verbrennung Hussens ihren Anfang findet, ist ihre Bezeichnung als 'hussitisch' interessant und es kann gefragt werden, inwieweit dem böhmischen Prediger tatsächlich eine Initatorrolle zugeschrieben werden kann.Im Versuch, die Frage zu bearbeiten, ist diese Arbeit entstanden. Zunächst einmal wird auf die Situation im Böhmen des vierzehnten Jahrhunderts eingegangen, sowohl in gesellschaftlicher als auch in theologischer Sicht. Danach wird eine kurze Biographie des Jan Hus beschrieben. Den größten Teil nimmt schließlich die Theologie Hussens und in diesem Zusammenhang auch der Konflikt mit der Kurie ein, da diese für seine Verurteilung und seine Verbrennung verantwortlich waren, welche später zu seinem Märtyrerstatus geführt haben. Dieser Märtyrerstatus spielte für die spätere Revolution eine große Rolle. Im Anschluss wird kurz der Aufenthalt Hussens in Konstanz dargestellt, bevor zum Ende eine kurze Beschreibung der hussitischen Revolution folgt. Die Revolution wird in der Wissenschaft oft in drei Strömungen unterteilt, eine religiöse eine nationale und eine soziale. Um die Initatorrolle Hussens zu untersuchen, müssen auch seine Standpunkte und sein Einfluss in diesen drei Bereichen betrachtet werden, was in der folgenden Arbeit versucht wird.
