A limited edition of 100 copies, this one signed by Robert Duncan who wrote the introduction and the artist Jess, both signatures appear together ont he rear end paper. A beautifully designed artist's book with child-like drawings reproduced in black and white. Comes with a loosely inserted letter from the Odyssia Gallery, addressed to the professor and writer Dawn Ades. Jess Collins known today simply as Jess, was an American visual artist. Jess was born Burgess Franklin Collins in Long Beach, California. He was drafted into the military and worked on the production of plutonium for the Manhattan Project. After his discharge in 1946, Jess worked at the Hanford Atomic Energy Project in Richland, Washington, and painted in his spare time, but his dismay at the threat of atomic weapons led him to abandon his scientific career and focus on his art.

Ink from Duncan's signature has transferred lightly to the half-title, one comb has broken from the binding, a light paperclip mark on the front cover, else about Fine. A lovely copy of this children's book of sorts profusely illustrated by Jess. A scarce book signed, and this to Covici who was a Berkeley librarian, noted collector and active particpant in the San Francisco gay culture of the 60's. ANACAPA A40.
